Family Letter by Debra

Dear ladies,

      Most of us have heard the phrase “This task is too hard” come from our mouth or that of a friend, but what we are trying to say is that the task at hand is difficult.  A difficult task is a task needing much effort or skill to accomplish, deal with, or understand.  Writing this letter was one of those tasks.  We have had joy and sorrow, good and bad, pain and suffering, little and much since my last letter, but what we always have had is the Lord Jesus Christ who reminds us that he is not only there for us in the large difficult tasks, but also in the small ones.

   I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Philippians 4:13

     Our Pastor has had the difficult task of getting the services organized during this COVID-19 pandemic.  We have gone from video only, to the allowed small groups, varying service times, to a larger group and now this Sunday we will be back to our regular scheduled service times while keeping our social distancing.

     For my birthday in March, James and Caity came from Kansas City to visit me. Their gift was letting me know that I could expect another grandchild in October.  They asked me to keep it a secret until they were able to tell all those they wanted to tell personally. This was a difficult task for me – I wanted all my friends to know about the Lord’s blessing. During this time of social distancing and essential employees, James has been able to continue his work from home.

     David has been with me for the past 9 weeks.  He has been a tremendous help to me. We have laughed and cried, also became amateur auto mechanics.  Last week, I helped David with a difficult task.  He had to pack and empty all of his personal items from his dorm room in 45 minutes. After packing, it took both of us running up and down the third-floor stairs to empty the room.   We finished in 44 minutes. 

       Donna has returned to work after being home with the children since March. She was in the middle of a kitchen remodelling project when she lost her job. It has been difficult for her, but she was able to help Lilibeth, Eliana, and Elijah with their school assignments, complete her kitchen project, and meet her family’s needs.

     The difficulty for Gina, Daniel and Lydia has not been the “the stay at home order” but not having the weekly fellowship with their Pastor and church family.  Since Daniel and Gina work from home and Lydia is home schooled not much daily has changed for them.  I would ask you to pray for Gina’s eyes. She has been having a difficult time seeing.  She is currently in therapy which seems to be improving her sight.

     As for me, things are so different and sometimes very difficult, but I continue to put my trust in the Lord and move forward in life each day.  I do not know what my future holds, but I do know the one that holds my future and He loves me.

    I am back into home schooling.  This time it is with my grandchildren. When Donna was able to returned to her job, I was able to finished the school year with them.  I will also be helping them during summer school.  Difficult tasks-- the Lords knows them all.
